More Details
This workshop will focus on NACADA's Definition and Scope of Academic Advising (found here: https://nacada.ksu.edu/Resources/Pillars/Definition-and-Scope).
In 2024, NACADA Board President Zoranna Jones charged a Task Force chaired by Janet Schulenberg to develop a definition and scope of practice for academic advising. The work of the Task Force was presented at all Region Conferences in 2025 as well as through several virtual forums, and the comments, recommendations, and input from all members were incorporated into the Definition and Scope of Practice for Academic Advising approved by the Board of Directors in March 2026.
Acknowledging that individuals may have multiple roles at an institution (e.g., instructor, researcher, administrator), all individuals who are given the responsibility of academic advising share the responsibilities of “academic advisors” and should therefore align with the established definition of and scope of practice.
Workshop led by Tiffany Fantine, Cassie Piggott, and Abigail Williams.
