AMP Scholars is a sub-committee of AMP dedicated to advancing scholarship, research, and professional contribution within academic advising. The group supports advisors in developing and sharing their expertise through publications, conference proposals, and engagement with professional organizations and journals. AMP Scholars fosters a collaborative environment that encourages inquiry, peer feedback, and continuous learning while helping elevate the visibility and impact of advising work.

The committee provides guidance and structured support for writing initiatives, proposal development, and submission processes, helping advisors translate their experiences and innovations into scholarly and professional contributions. In addition, AMP Scholars coordinates and promotes advising award opportunities aligned with NACADA, assisting with nominations and recognition efforts that celebrate excellence in the field. Through these efforts, AMP Scholars empowers advisors to grow as practitioner-scholars, contribute to the broader advising community, and strengthen a culture of scholarship across campus.

From Idea to Conference: Finding Your Fit and Building a Great Presentation helps advisors turn their everyday work, experiences, and expertise into meaningful professional conference presentations. This interactive workshop will walk participants through the process of identifying potential presentation topics, finding conferences and presentation opportunities that align with their interests, and shaping a broad idea into a focused, audience-centered session. Participants will explore what makes a strong conference presentation, practice evaluating and refining session ideas, and develop a preliminary presentation concept of their own. Through hands-on activities, examples, and reflection, participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how to move from “I could present on this” to a conference-ready idea and a concrete next step toward submitting it.
