Project Description
I’m part of a behavioral neuroscience lab that explores how oxytocin affects social and parental behaviors in mice. The goal is to better understand the relationship between brain chemistry and social motivation, which could provide insight into conditions like autism or substance use disorders. My role in the lab includes helping with animal care and supporting ongoing behavioral research. Why does this topic interest you?
I’m fascinated by the relationship between the brain and psychology, especially how brain chemistry influences our emotions, social behavior, and daily interactions. Oxytocin is often associated with connection and bonding, but this research explores its more complex effects, which makes it even more interesting to me. Understanding how a single chemical can impact motivation and behavior helps me see the deeper in neuroscience and psychology. What are your professional aspirations?
I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in psychology or neuroscience. My goal is to become a professor and researcher, studying developmental and mental health conditions to better understand how the brain and behavior are connected.Do you have any advice for future researchers?
Start early and be open to learning! Even if you’re new, you can still grow a lot just by being present, asking questions, and staying curious.
