Project Description
There is a critical need for comprehensive education and training among law enforcement personnel to address the prevailing myths and biases surrounding sexual assault and trafficking. Misconceptions surrounding rape and sex trafficking ultimately harm victims. My goal is to determine how Tennessee law enforcement handles sexual assault and trafficking cases. I also aim to identify the barriers or limitations that law enforcement members may face when managing these sensitive cases.Why does this topic interest you?
This research topic interests me because I am deeply committed to advocating for victims of sexual assault and sex trafficking. I believe that understanding the perspectives and challenges faced by law enforcement is crucial for improving the support systems available to victims. By identifying barriers and misconceptions, I hope to contribute to more effective training, policies, and procedures that empower law enforcement to respond more sensitively and effectively to these cases. Ultimately, my goal is to help create a justice system that is more compassionate and responsive to the needs of survivors, ensuring that they receive the protection and support they deserve.What are your professional aspirations?
My professional aspirations involve working with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force, where I can apply my cybersecurity skills to combat online child exploitation. I am also deeply committed to victim advocacy, ensuring that survivors of sexual assault and trafficking receive the support and justice they deserve. My goal is to contribute to a safer society by protecting vulnerable populations and empowering victims to rebuild their lives.Do you have any advice for future researchers?
My advice for future researchers is to remain curious and open-minded, always questioning assumptions and exploring new perspectives. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and stay committed to ethical research practices that prioritize integrity and the well-being of those impacted by your work.
