Current Focus: Neuroblastoma Cells in Ultraviolet Laser Trap with Magnetic Beads

Project Description

The laser trapping technique will be conducted with neuroblastoma cells using a high powered laser and magnetic beads in hopes of creating sustained radiation energy for less harmful effects of radiotherapy treatment and the betterment of all cancer patients.

Why does this topic interest you?

This topic interests me because I will be attending medical school, therefore, this experiment is relevant to my career choice as it relates to the future of medicine and better patient care overall.

What are your professional aspirations?

I will complete an MD program and specialize in either pediatric dermatology, pediatric or acute care surgery, or obstetrics/ gynecology.

Do you have any advice for future researchers?

Even if you do not feel ready or experience feelings of nervousness/ inadequacy.. GO FOR IT! The hardest step is the first. I have quickly learned to love the process of discovering the unknown and wish I would have joined a lab sooner.
