The Information Systems and Analytics Department has experienced significant growth in its Cybersecurity Management programs, with over 100 students enrolling in the newly launched Bachelor of Science and Master of Science within the first year. This reflects the growing demand for cybersecurity professionals as organizations face increasing cyber threats. To expand opportunities, the department will launch a Minor in Cybersecurity Management in Summer 2025, offering students across disciplines valuable cybersecurity skills. Cybersecurity management courses will also be high-demand electives, attracting 300 Information Systems students and over 3,100 students from the Jones College of Business. As cybersecurity becomes a critical business issue, these courses will equip students with a strong foundation in risk management, intrusion detection, forensics, compliance, and threat mitigation. Hands-on learning is essential to preparing students for real-world challenges. While classroom instruction builds theoretical knowledge, practical experience helps students identify threats, analyze vulnerabilities, and respond to incidents effectively. Simulated cybersecurity exercises reinforce technical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills—key competencies for future professionals. A Cyber Range will provide realistic, scenario-based training, allowing students to practice cyber defense strategies, incident response, and risk assessment. To support this, PowerEdge servers and a Dell ME5024 Storage Array are needed to ensure adequate computing power and storage capacity. Investing in this infrastructure will give students the practical experience necessary to excel in the cybersecurity workforce.
