CLA requests TAF funding for the following discipline specific equipment: Theatre and Dance Department’s training and co-curricular program is enhanced by regular integration of state-of-the-art technology including stage lighting and communication. This includes: Color Source Spot and Par LED stage fixtures, and Dimmable LED updates to the current classroom lighting systems, which show signs of failure; wireless Clear-Com system with antenna, 4 wireless comms, and battery charger; physical training equipment for dance students; and classroom acoustic and electronic pianos per NAST and NASD accreditation standards. The School of Music needs to expand the inventory of instruments (flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, and saxophone) used by music education students in their technique classes and as part of the university bands, orchestras, and chamber ensembles. The current inventory of professional oboes and working English horns is insufficient to meet the demands of growing enrollment. This additional inventory will allow for larger class sizes and more opportunities for students to develop hands-on skills with each instrument. Upgrading essential equipment within the Department of Art and Design significantly enhances student learning, creativity, and research, ensuring the program remains at the forefront of modern design and industry-relevant education, and aligns with NASAD accreditation standards. This includes: an industrial cabinet saw and downdraft table to improve safety, efficiency, and air quality in the woodshop; bookbinding plane, sewing frame, paper beater and dryer box, moulds, deckles, and type for student's hands-on experience in advanced printmaking techniques; and large-scale projection and motion design equipment for students in IXD courses.
