This proposal seeks funding to establish an equipment checkout program for MTSU Online instructors, providing access to 10 high-quality video cameras, USB microphones, portable lighting kits, green screens, and teleprompters. This initiative will empower instructors to create, update, and enhance the quality of their lecture, video, and audio content, ensuring an improved and engaging online learning experience for students.
Need for the Proposal
High-quality video content is essential for effective online instruction, as it directly impacts student engagement, comprehension, and satisfaction. However, many instructors lack access to the tools necessary to produce polished content. By addressing this gap, this program ensures equity among instructors, fosters innovative teaching practices, and elevates the quality of online education at MTSU.
Use of Technology
Instructors will use the requested equipment to create, update, and refine lecture videos, demonstrations, and interactive content. Over 6,000 students will directly benefit from this program annually. This number is based on enrollment data for existing online courses across multiple departments, including foundational general education courses and specialized upper-division and graduate-level programs such as Nursing, Criminal Justice, and Data Sciences.
