AUGUST 7: Update on the search for the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
Dear Campus Community:
I wanted to provide the campus community with an update on the search for the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. First, let me thank Vice President Yvette Clark and the search committee for their hard work reviewing the candidate pool and bringing forward a strong set of candidates for consideration. I am also grateful to everyone who participated in the interview process and provided candid feedback about the candidates. I realize how much time is involved in these search processes, and I appreciate your interest in ensuring we find the best candidate for our university. After much consideration, I have decided to re-open the search process.
I have asked Sarah Sudak, previously Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, to delay her retirement and assume the role of Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students until a new Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students is appointed. It is my hope that we can conclude the new search no later than the end of the 2023-24 academic year.
I am confident that Ms. Sudak will continue to provide the necessary leadership for the division along with her colleagues. I appreciate Sarah’s willingness to accept this challenge, and I hope you will join me in welcoming Sarah to her new role.
Sincerely,
Sidney A. McPhee
President
