To the University community,
We are heartbroken by the loss of life and property resulting from this morning’s severe storms that struck Davidson, Putnam, Benton, and Wilson counties. We reached out today to the about 3,700 currently enrolled students who listed a home address in those counties to make sure they are aware of the resources available for those in need, including:
- Emergency Aid resources, including information about Raiders’ Closet and the MTSU Student Food Pantry, can be found here: http://www.mtsu.edu/studentsuccess/crisis-aid.php.
- Our Counseling Services, located in Room 326-S of Keathley University Center, is available if students need to speak with someone. Students will generally have access to a same-day meeting with a counselor, and students are encouraged to take advantage of walk-in hours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. For more information, call 615-898-2670 or visit www.mtsu.edu/countest.
Provost Mark Byrnes has reached out to faculty to ask them to be responsive to any situations caused by this tragedy that could impact students and to make appropriate accommodations in assignments, testing and class attendance.
HOW TO CONTRIBUTE
The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties has set up a relief fund to support efforts through middle Tennessee. Our local United Way is coordinating with neighboring United Ways and the local American Red Cross to determine the appropriation of funds. 100% of funds received for the relief effort will be used to address related needs throughout middle Tennessee.
